I was thinking of calling this roundup of ideas for the noon time meal “School Lunches.” But then I thought better of it. It’s not like everyone in a family goes to school. In addition to being about kids and getting them involved in the kitchen so they don’t take a backseat to their nutrition, SPC is also about the family as a whole. You can bring these lunches to work. To the park. On a road trip or a business trip (Just Say No to plane food!). It’s how we roll. And, speaking of rolling, here’s a few great lunches you and your kids can take on your day’s adventures.

ALT Sandwich is a healthy spin on the BLT using avocado. Read it and weep bacon.

Grilled Ham, Apple and Cheese (above) is your average ham and cheese but way better.

Hummus and Feta Sandwich on Whole Grain Bread puts everyone’s favourite snack dip in a healthy sandwich that is totally portable.

Mini Quiche are bite-size and wonderfully delicious. Fill them with your veggie of choice too.

Blueberry Spelt Muffin Cake Sandwiches marries a muffin with fruit, almond butter and cheese. Not all at once. It’s actually two sandwich ideas using one yummy muffin cake.
