
Easy Meals Made in Your Waffle Iron on Global’s The Morning Show
If you don’t have a waffle iron, then you’re going to need to get one. If you have a waffle maker and you’re only using it to make waffles, then you’ve been missing out. There is so much more than fluffy carbs that come from the breakfast gadget. A waffle machine can help you deliver flavour-packed lunch dishes for you and your family in the same time it takes you to make, you guessed it, a waffle. The combination of this time-saving tool and our recipes provide easy and tasty meals. Hold the syrup everyone, lunch (or even dinner!) is on us.

Waffled Falafel
Ingredients
- 2 shallots, halved
- 2 cups rehydrated garbanzo beans, drained Or use 1 19 oz. can, drained and dried
- 1/4 cup flat-leaf or curly parsley
- 3 cloves garlic
- 2 tbsps raw sesame seeds
- 2 tsps ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground coriander
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp chili powder
- 3 tbsp flour
Toppings
- hummus
- shredded iceberg lettuce
- halved cherry tomatoes
- cucumber
- pickled carrot
- chopped parsley
- tahini
Instructions
- The night before, add two cups of dried garbanzo beans (chick peas) to a bowl with 8 cups of water. Soak in cold water overnight. Drain and rinse in the morning. You can use canned beans that have been drained and rinsed but you should dry them with paper towels.
- In a food processor, add your shallots and whiz up.
- Add the garbanzo beans, parsley, garlic, sesame seeds, ground cumin, salt, ground coriander, chili powder and flour. Process until the mixture looks like a course meal. Place in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
- Following the directions of your waffle iron, place 1/3 cup of batter into your machine and cook. Remove warm waffle and set aside on parchment lined baking sheet. Spray waffle maker in between falafels and continue until batter is finished.
- Dress waffles with hummus, shredded iceberg lettuce, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, chopped parsley and a drizzle of tahini.
