Roundup: Snacks For Peace

Roundup: Snacks For Peace

As far as we’re concerned, you can really never have enough snacks lying around the house. They’re a bit like sleep or time, the more you have the better off you are. If you can spend an hour on the weekend baking, it will make life more peaceful. Take for instance this little morsel from my day:

We enter the house after school….

I say: “Can you please wash your hands, peanut.”

Scarlett says (in half whine/half shriek as she collapses into the banquette in our kitchen): “Why do I always have to wash my hands? Sometimes I wish  I didn’t even have them!! I’m never going to be a doctor because they have to wash them all the time!”

Really? That’s what you got for me? There’s something about kids right after school. They’re just so. As in so tired, so overworked, so played out, so hungry, so everything.

So I gave her a muffin and some water and once her little, starved, after-school belly was full things were back to normal. We chatted about her day, discussed dinner and got ready for dance. However, she still didn’t want to do her homework. So there you go. Snacks are for peace but not homework.
